The Expression is currently Rigoutat's best-selling professional model oboe. When Mr. Rigoutat first designed the Evolution model, he gave it that name because he expected it to change. Enough changes were made so that he realized he had another model--hence the Expression. We try to keep the Expression in stock; the Evolution and Symphony models are available by special order.

The RIEC is a fabulously well-equipped middle-priced oboe with a great, great sound. It has the split D key, the third octave--the works! The Delphine is Rigoutat's entry-level intermediate oboe, with left F, F resonance and low Bb. It is entry level in terms of price, but not in terms of sound! Both the Delphine and the RIEC are available in either all wood or wood with a plastic top joint.

The RIEC English horn is the relatively less expensive Rigoutat English horn. It has a split D key, plus all the features of the professional English horn with the exception of the third octave key.

The XL model oboe is Howarth's prestigious flagship professional model. It is available in cocobola and other exotic woods in addition to grenadilla. The S series is a group of intermediate priced oboes, with the S65 being the most fully equipped (a full professional system with the exception of the third octave key). The S55 is also the only middle-priced Howarth to have a split D key--the S20, S40 & S45 series do not have this feature. All Howarth oboes are available in either all wood or wood with a plastic top joint.

The Howarth English horns are categorized much like their oboes, with the XL being the professional model, and the two S series being the less expensive models.

Fox/USA

  • Model 333
  • Model 330 oboe (Renard)
  • Model 450 oboe.

The Fox 333 and 330 both have a left F, F resonance and low Bb. Like the Yamaha 400 series, the Fox 333 does not have an articulated C# key. The 450 is the professional model in wood with a plastic top joint.
